America's Sports Stadiums Are Moving Downtown Back to News

I don’t know if this could work in Des Moines, but the City’s interest in building a high school football stadium on the old Dico site sounds a little like what’s going on in larger cities. Australian-Style Cafe, St. Kilda, Set to Open May 1st Back to News

Congratulation, Alex Hall.  I represented Alex to find the right space for his breakfast/lunch concept, St. Kilda’s.  Alex’s vision for St. Kilda’s included being in an interesting space in a building and neighborhood with some buzz to it.  The space in Harbach Lofts fits the bill with the 3 former truck dock doors converted to a full-height window system, and the interior truck dock incorporated into the coffee bar.  Raw finishes and industrial infrastructure will pair well with Alex’s healthy food and excellent coffee.  Alex’s vision aligned perfectly with the building owners’, Kent Mauck and Davis Sanders.  Davis and Kent were great to work with, and have gone the extra mile to make Harbach Lofts one of the cool new places to live downtown.

Glut of Downtown Parking Hits City Pocketbook Back to News

Here is an interesting op-ed from the Des Moines Register (August 20, 2016) about the dynamics of the downtown parking garages.  Owners of competitive office buildings want cheap, plentiful parking, but cheap, plentiful parking does not help the City pay for the municipal garages.
